Child Custody and Visitation
There a number of options available for child custody, such as sole or joint custody and legal and physical custody. Visitation rights / parenting time is a part of custody. Legal custody entails decision-making authority and physical custody entails the actual physical possession of the children. Generally, a primary and secondary physical custodian will be selected, either by agreement of the parties or order of court. A primary custodian will have the children with them the majority of the time and the secondary custodian will have designated parenting time with the children.
