Assault / Battery

Assault is defined as attempted or threatened physical harm to another person, whether successful or not. Battery is the actual striking of another person with the intent to do so, whether much harm is inflicted or not. It is important to understand your rights under the law. We stay current with the changing laws in this area. For example, laws regarding self-defense changed in Florida in 2005. There are various degrees of assault and some degrees are considered felonies and carry heavy penalties. There are various kinds of assault such as simple assault, aggravated assault, sexual assault and assault with a deadly weapon. If you are charged or being investigated regarding an assault or battery offense, contact a criminal defense attorney for legal counsel as soon as possible.
